I’m sure most of you news junkies have already read about this, but for those of you who haven’t, Robert Bork, the world’s favorite failed Supreme Court nominee, is suing the Yale Club after he fell on the stairs before giving a speech there…. for over $1,000,000 !!! After he fell, Bork went on to give his speech, so obviously nothing was seriously wrong with him, but now he’s whistlin’ a new tune. In addition, the critic of judicial activism and defender of framer’s intent also asks that they pay his attorney’s fees. What’s that thing about the courts being used for frivolous purposes again?

Nice find Rudo. This reminds me of another story I just saw in the news a couple of days ago, where a man, who was a lawyer and administrative law judge, tried to sue a drycleaning company (which I’m supposing to be a Mom and Pop type place) for $54 million, yes MILLION, dollars for losing a pair of his pants! If even lawyers and judges believe they can abuse the system what hope is there to have true tort reform in this country?

Don’t throw a loaded term like tort reform into this… Just because there are idiots who attempt to abuse the system does not mean the system is unworkable. Tulley’s judge/pants guy lost his case and will be paying the dry cleaners’ court fees, and I assume Bork’s case will either be settled (for well under a million) or thrown out. These guys are idiots, enough said…

Tulley…..the pants suit! It’s actually funny because our Legal Assistant was telling me all about it. I love crazy people sometimes.

Here is a link to the article about the pants lawsuit. Read it closely and see how this lawyer was “out of work” for threee years before being appointed as a judge. Umm. In my world out of work = unemployed. Why is an attorney who is not very old “out of work” and have little to no savings to pay for the ramifications of his selfish, irrational and well, dick-headed actions? I smell good old fashioned urban corruption…
