YouTube Debates Show Wolf Blitzer How it’s Done!
Unless you were hiding under a cave yesterday - you may have caught a part of the YouTube CNN debate. Generally, I thought it was incredible and the questions seemed much more poignant than those typically asked of potential presidential candidates, but I am curious what you all thought about it?
btw here’s a link to all of the Questions, personally I liked this one (even though they dodged it)
What’s your fav?

I’m going to stay away from the political content of the debate as much as I can, lest I start to feel ill.
I’ll agree that the questions were (on balance) at least more dynamic and engaging than they often are. I’ve watched every debate so far except the Dems first one, and this one, but with this format it was very easy for me to review it online, and even to skip ahead when I saw an answer devolving into BS. That is certainly a big plus. However, the main problem with these debates isn’t on the question end, it is clearly the answers, we need to demand better from our political leaders. The one fault that I see more so from this format, other than technical aspects which should easily be overcome, is that too much ground is covered in so little time. With all these debates they are having, wouldn’t it make the most sense to have 2 hours to talk about health care. 2 hours to talk about education. 2 or maybe 4 hours on Iraq, and/or foreign policy. Seems to me that you would get past the superficial soundbites that way.
Now for the politics: Tip of the hat to Mike Gravel for supporting competition in education!!! But a big wag of the finger to all the Dems (Biden and Clinton especially) for making excuses for why they sent their kids to private schools, or . I believe Biden’s line actually was (I’m paraphrasing here, with sarcastic emphasis) ‘If my wife and daughter hadn’t been killed in that horrible fiery car crash then I would never have sent my sons to private school.’ ??? WTF ???
Here’s a better answer: Yes, I sent my kids to private school because I thought that was the best place for them to learn and grow, and as a loving parent I always want the best for my child.
OR if you want a populist slant: I sent my kids to private school because I can afford to send them to the best school around. Many of America’s public schools, even some of the ones in the rich neighborhoods that we all live in, are troubled and we must make every effort to improve schooling throughout the country, and increase access to good schools for everyone. (I’ll give Sen. Obama a tip of the hat here since on 2nd review he actually did touch on these points.)

What is up with YouTube?
I came back to link to the page that had them so nicely lined up and organized by question, and they’ve gotten rid of it already… unless I am wrong, you can only access the debates in much larger and unorganized segments like they have all the other debates already… Sucks to YouTube…
I’m looking forward to the GOP debate anyways though, there should be some interesting questions… to make Mitt squirm…
