Whenever people mention the Iraq war, I think of two things…

Firstly, from the outset the libertarian party suggested that if the US were to become engaged in the Iraq war, then we must simply install a new pro-US dictator and get out ASAP. In retrospect, would not that have been the best plan (if we were dead-set on invading)?

Secondly, I am reminded of the 77 Senators and 296 Representatives of the House who simply passed on their constitutional obligations to Declare or not to Declare War. The Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002.

Four and a half years later Congress still writhes in its own squalid incompetence and we the people are still to blame for employing them.

While the President said that the US strategy didn't hand South Korea to a totalitarian enemy, South Korea was under military dictatorship rule for nearly 30 years. In fact, one of the leaders ruled their constitution null and void.
